My buddy recently picked up a 1DS mark 1
so we tested it out with a canon 50mm 1.4

    two speedlights:
    diy straw grid for background
    half open umbrella for keylight

lucky for my wallet, I still can't see a significant difference between full frame and crop

As always, Comments and Critique appreciated :naughty:

    1. shadow on her nose is terrible and i probably should have lowered my light to fill in the eyes better

Yep, I can appreciate the huge field of view difference but I cannot see the difference between a 30mm 1.4 on crop vs a 50mm 1.4 on full frame

I have seen though that when comaring a 1.3x crop to a 1.6x crop with the same amount of pixels (1dm2 vs 20d), the 1.3x did seem a noticable amount sharper when pixel peeping

i don't like this picture, because it perpetuates the myth that crop bodies "zoom in" on the image and change the focal length of the lens.

in reality, the bridge picture on right would be resized / enlarged to appear the same pixel dimensions as the image on left.

it shows exactly what is says it does. Its not comparing "corrected" focal lengths.

Shes cute but I dont think the photos are doing her justice. The first one, shes making a face and in the second one her arms are in pieces. The lighting and post are good...any other ones?

    haha thanks!

yeah for sure, she definitely could look better with better posing and lighting

Basically she asked to take some pics, I said no problem  and she posed for a few. I got 4 snaps and she made me delete two of em. I guess I should have just tricked her and said I delted em but oh well. She said she wanted more shots in the future so for sure I have time to work on the lighting and the posing sometime in the future

There was essentially no post processing done, just abit of adjustment of exposure. So it is basically straight out of camera. I just used the settings he had on with auto white balance. I was surprised that it had that tone sooc. I like it.

Nah, you did right. in my experience what gets models to open up is the trust you establish. Two iffy snaps won't make any difference, but losing trust, that will.

because that's what the left side would look like with an 80mm focal length....
