My brothers Dell stopped working after a nasty thunderstorm the other day. He is pretty sure his house got hit by lightning

His power supply is working, I did the powerclip test on it

The flea power light comes on his motherboard

I took all peripherals (cards,HDs,floppy, etc) and tried to boot and still no go.

What else could I check and what could be the problem? Motherboard? Processor?

    Thanks :x:

When pressing the button the power supply fan wont spin either.

Could it be as simple as the power button broken? But after that nasty thunderstorm it makes me lean towards a bad MB...

did you get any beep codes? Usually if the power supply is working you will at least get a beep code. If your lucky the PS is the only thing you will need to replace.

But if it works with the paperclip test, then its more than likely the mobo. Try another PSU for shits and giggles, or put your PSU into another PC.
