Planning to install an AMP/Subwoofer setup in my E46 M3, suggestions?

I dont know enough about amps and subwoofers, can someone give me some pointers? I am planning to keep the existing Harmon Kardon speakers. What type of amps or subwoofers should i get? Planning to get these at Bestbuy, i know they may not have the high end stuffs, but i got a $300 gift card for my bday and planning to add money on top of course. Any suggestions? :) :hs:

How much mroe money are you going to throw in ontop of that? You could get an Alpine Type-R maybe? Or if you are adding alot, you could get a nice amp from bestbuy now that they carry Alpine stuff, and then a sub somewhere else?

    No to rockford. Overrated.

I haven't been to BB in a long time... But from what I remember, they just don't have anything good there. Spend the gift card on CD's, or something else...

I would get a nice Alpine amp from bestbuy with your giftcard, and take the other money you have to buy a sub somewhere else. BB doesn't sell very good audio stuff.

I would suggest getting an Alpine amp from BB, they arn't bad and it would be a cheap way to go, but if you want to get it all somewhere else go for it ^_^

I don't know why the E46 M3 was relevant to the thread... but if you can afford one, I'd go someplace other than bestbuy for your stereo. An M3 with a Type R sub doesn't seem appropriate. Go to a custom shop and get it done right.

Im with you on this one, but I still think that Alpine amps really arn't that bad and since he has a gift card it would make sense.

they're not bad, but not neccessarily great, either. I think he needs to buy the other gear, first... Then if the alpine amps will fit best, you can get them... Otherwise, that's a lot of cd's ;)

you deserve to be shot if you put a Best Buy stereo in an M3. If you can afford that car, you can afford to do it right.

the RF amps are very very nice, and if you have the money they are some of the best available
