My girl does em. I'm starting to see tons of people at the gym doing them. I've tried them and failed.

tell me about them. It develops your core I've been told and felt it during the exercise.

How are these better, if at all, than regular ab work?

Are there other variations other than on your elbows?

I believe it works your core stabilizer muscles. I do a regular plank or prone bridge in my routine for generally 30 seconds. If you find they're too easy then you can make it a bit harder by raising one of your feet off the ground. Side planks or side bridge for my obliques, same concept as the prone bridge. I just added them on top of my regular ab work though... I didn't replace anything with them.

I use them in addition to my other ab work

you can do side bridges, feet stacked on top of eachother and on one elbow, working the obliques

    ah...nice

my progression is usually 30 second sets of

regular plank on elbows, -> elevate both legs -> elevate both legs with only 1 contacting something.

i'll have to try the single arm
