So I've been in Austin about a month and am itching to shoot but surprisingly there don't seem to be many places to shoot around here, even compared to San Diego where I moved from. I mean, I'd be happy to go out into the hills and shoot outside somewhere, which is how I always pictured Texas life, but i'm guessing there are rules against that even in TX these days. So any of you from Austin have any recommendations? I'd like to be able to shoot my handgun and shotgun, either outside or inside.

Red's south is pretty much where it's at.

Thats where I shoot at. 20 dollars your first time for membership card and then 10 dollars a day after that. A lot better than paying by the hour, I think.

Plus bring as many as you want stay as long as you want (or until they close) you can leave and come back the place rocks. I wish they would allow rapid fire though.

Yea me too! It would also be cool to practice drawing from holster. I understand why they wont let you though. A friend of mine said there is a place out past Seward Junction on 183 that is 15 dollars a day and you can shoot as fast as you want. Gonna check that one out once my AR is finished.

Thanks guys. It's weird, Red's south didnt come up on google maps, but it's right near me. Paying by the hour does suck tho. I'll def check out eagle peak....even though Leander isn't exactly close to south Austin.

Oh and I've never been to a range that told you how you can and can't fire, and I'm used to shooting in Commifornia. That's crazy.
