having to get shit from 11ty different places? Talking like fire flints, paracord, etc. not food and shit like that, that stuff we just get locally. Just curious if there are places that sell a lot of survival gear like that where you wouldn't have to go to multiple sites, to save on shipping?

If you have some crazy plans about bugging out in the midst of some huge crisis scenerio be prepared for a billion other people to be doing the same thing. Bugging out is pointless, in order to survive depending on the situation, minues nukes, NBC, shit like that directed at your location your best bet is to stay home with your community. I saved this next paragraph for years because it makes so much sense-

"A "back-pack survivalist" is a survivalist that plans on leaving his home ahead of a disaster and taking to the woods with only what he can carry out with him. He plans to survive through a strategy that is a sort of cross between the Boy-Scout-in-the-woods and Robinson Crusoe. The backpack survivalist plans on outrunning danger with a four-wheel drive or a motorcycle and hopes to travel light with a survival kit of everything he might need to cope with the unexpected. He hasn't cached anything in the area he's headed for because, chances are, he doesn't know where he's headed. Somehow, he hopes to overcome all odds with a minimum of supplies and a maximum of smarts. Certainly it is a noble cause; but it seems like one destined to failure. And that's not survival."

Good pricing, good selection, and decent shipping. I get my Mainstay and other supplies here.

Call me crazy, but I agree with Hooch.

  14. In a real survival situation the population density in many areas is simply too high to sustain the number of people there. Bugging IN may be a viable option for some, but people in cities and suburbs are going to have a hell of a time procuring food and water once the shit really hits the fan and supplies looted from local stores are gone. This isn't even getting into the area of security and defense.

Yeah, if I am 10 miles away from home at work, I'd have to be crazy to be prepared!

Mount St. Helens taught us we don't need to be prepared for the unexpected!

  17. Fuck being prepared. Just have a gun and shoot the first "prepared" person you find, then take their stuff.

I've said it before, but, it bears repeating - honestly, this is my plan.

Also, I think Hooch is referring to a long-term bug out.

Well yeah, like you've got anything better to do?

  22. Long term I think my post a few up is even more relevant. People in areas with a population density that can only be supported by modern means would be screwed unless they moved out of those areas. I know if the S really H's TF I'm going to my parents' cabin up near the canadian border. Not only is there a fucking arsenal up there but there's a major river a few minutes walking distance away (fresh water) and tons of wildlife and wild plants to eat.

I am really surprised by the comments of "why would you do that, that's stupid and pointless". Naive if you ask me. We live 20 mins from a large metro area, and basically in a rural area. I'd fucking much rather hit the woods for a week or 2 or longer while the dipshits raid stores and empty shelves.
