Regarding my Sig P226... Should I unload my gun every night or is it fine to keep it loaded all the time?

Is there any damage to the springs or anything that could result from leaving ammo in my magazines all the time? I know some people that unload the gun every night and take the ammo out of the magazines every weekend :hsugh: Is being lazy ok?

Keep it loaded. Secure it when you aren't in control of it though.

Aside from safety issues, is there anything mechanically that could happen from leaving everything loaded all the time?

My glock and walther both always kept with full mag and 1 in the pipe, it not going to cause anything mechanical to wear or anything like that.

Only real concern would be weakening of the magazine spring from being under tension. It's debated, but as I understand the science, the loading and unloading of tension is more fatiguing to the metal than the constant load tension. So leave the mags loaded and spend $30 to replace the mag springs perhaps every two years, and your mags should be perfectly reliable.

I don't think leaving mags loaded does much harm to them I've had ones that were left loaded for a couple years before being used and they still work fine.

Leaving mags loaded is fine. Look at the military. They dont unload their shit at night.

    Leave it loaded.

And go to a range once every month or two, its good for both you and the gun.

i keep my pistol mags loaded whenever im "home" from work, not out on a trip. my ar mags stay unloaded unless they come back from the range loaded. then they stay that way till the next trip
