A&P Pictures with my lens on backwards

    I remember reading an earlier thread about if you put your lens on backwards, you can get extreme closeups of stuff. So I did it on a pair of 1/3ct diamond earrings. :noes: They look amazing to the naked eye, but in the pictures they have flaws :o And the DOF you get when you do this is like 0.001mm

    That's a good shot. I hope you didn't pay a lot for those diamonds!!

    I've turned my lens around on my film camera a few times when I wanted nice flower macros. The DOF is really small but it can be great when done correctly.

    You can just hold it or you can get a piece that connects the lens backwards.

    It's a 20D. And yeah, you can just hold it up, but I had to set it on a table, and set the diamonds on the table as well. Then focused by moving them closer/farther away. Mirror lockup + self timer to ensure that my hand didn't shake it at all, because the DOF is that sensitive.
