They are on sale for $99 right now. I think its worth it. Here's some pics of it on my 30" ACD.

Keep in mind, the resolution of regular TV isn't that great, so the quality isnt amazing like HD TV or anything, but from my bed it looks just like any other 30" TV would. I love it.

Cool. How big of a file do you end up with for an avg. 1hr show?

Cool. Maybe with my tax returns. I've always hated when a show is on and I gotta project I'm working on.

Wait, does it decode digital cable? I want to get all the extra HBO channels and such in my room, but I don't have a cable box, so I only get the analog cable in here... would I need the additional decoder from the cable company?

sorry u fucking 06. how about you read their website.

    Superb quality digital TV recordings
EyeTV Hybrid records digital TV in one quality setting, Lossless. The digital stream is recorded unaltered, and so you’re getting full quality digital content as encoded by the broadcaster. EyeTV supports multilingual programming and Dolby® Digital sound. Analog TV can be recorded via EyeTV 2’s software encoder, and the quality depends on the Mac’s processor power (for more information, read the FAQ).

That does NOT include the "digital cable" that you can get from your cable company. You can get the analog stream of HBO, but not the HBOHD or digital HBO.

When they reference "digital TV" they are talking about HDTV, not digital cable.

Edit: Right from the website - "It delivers free over-the-air digital TV to your Mac via antenna, as well as analog TV via antenna and standard cable."

Okay, so mine just arrived. I got it all set up and registered a TitanTV account, but the eyeTV guide isn't populating with the TitanTV data. I can use the titantv guide on the website but I want to do the full-screen built-in guide thing.

    Any tips?

Make sure your username/pass is correct in the eyeTV software. That's all I can think of at the moment.

It worked today. Last night data.titantv.com was down.

The $99 sale was a macworld special and expired last week I think. :o

I'm having a little bit of quirkiness where mine won't initialize after sitting idle for a long time, but it works again after unplugging it.

While I was looking up stuff online last night, I found something that you might be interested in. Apparently an earlier version had a tighter integration with Front Row and a prettier Front Row-esque appearance. I'm guessing Apple legal dropped the hammer because now it looks like a shitty Windows Media Center clone. This article tells you how to change the appearance and one of the comments even has the files to make it look like Front Row again:

    [IMG] [IMG]

edit: The article mentions using the developer tools to modify the skin, but you don't need them if you simply want to use the Front Row theme that person posted in the last comment on the macosxhints article. You just need to replace some files. I just did it and it looks awesome. :bigthumb:

Looks nice, but when will it be *easy* and cheap to record HD/DD5.1 streams?

Okay so I'm an elitist prick, but that's how I like to watch my TV :).

Man I want one of those 30" displays...wow.

how do you access that interface via Eye2 software?
I have the EyeTV 250 and all I've ever seen in a shitty browser type thing for scheduling...
