    Is there anyway to take a large amount of pictures and rename them all in a certain format easily.

    For example, say I had 100 pictures that are all DSCXXXX from my camera, can I change them all to Birthday 1 through Birthday 100 easily ? Without renaming them all induvidually ?

    A batch file is a little DOS script that you run on the commandline and it does things. You should be able to write one to rename your pictures, but I would not be the man to do it for you (since I don't use Windows and am no batch file god).

    if you had a webserver setup on your computer with PHP i would use this:

    PHP:
    <?
    //must have trailing slash
    $dir 'G:/DCIM/100OLYMP/';
    $ext '.jpg';

    $directory opendir($dir);

    $i=1;
    while (
    $file readdir($directory)){
        if (
    is_file($dir.$file)){

    $old_file $dir.$file;

    $new_file $dir.'Birthday'.$i.$ext;

    rename($old_file,$new_file);

    $i++;
        }

    ?>
    hehe that is me tho...

    Magic File Renamer (http://mfr.queryweb.com/) is also great for renaming files. For mp3s you can even edit the id3-tag in batch.
