Made a thread a couple weeks ago about building the AR...well here it is :coold:

The upper is a buddies Stag LH model, not mine. Just put it on to test out and see how badass it looked :x: Anyways, here's the pics:

Spikes tactical lower, CTR (getting a tan one soon), RRA LPK/Winter gaurd, Ergo grip.

Yep...it only fits right with a midlength handgaurd, doesn't go all the way forward with a carbine length handgaurd :o

I've had the bayo for almost 2 years though, before I even got into ARs...just threw it on there for shits and giggles :mamoru:

From what I understand only the Commercial spec CTR comes with the pad. That's a Mil-Spec so it doesn't.

ah, that must be it... I have a commercial-spec buffer tube and I was looking at a CTR, and all the sites listed it as including a pad.

I wonder why they only include the pad on comm-spec?

Right. But that looks like a 6" barrel with carbine-length handguards, right?

I was under the impression that it wouldn't fit, at all. So it does fit? just farther back...

It's a 16" barrel with CAR handguards, yes.

It does fit, but since the bayonet lug is farther back the bayonet itself sits farther back. It would sit in the proper location with a Mid-length Guard since it would place the lug farther forward.

There's a thing in the instructions that are included with it that say why the pad is included on the commercial one. Something about the tube needing more space when it's fully collapsed. I don't remember exactly, but I didn't really read it since it didn't apply to me.

That's just my buddies CTR, he's waiting on a mil-spec tube at the moment so I'm borrowing his for now. I'm going to be ordering a Tan CTR sometime later this month :o

I have a comm-spec buffer tube, and my experience has been the opposite.... The mil-specs I looked at were longer. They came flush to the end of the stock. Mine is shorter than the stock. I have seen some "angle-back" stocks, but those would be flush at one end, and inset at the other.

Like I said man, I didn't really read it carefully since it didn't apply to me.

    Email magpul or something :dunno:

I don't care enough to do that. I have a comm-spec buffer tube, and therefore I get the free rubber pad... If I was on the other end of that deal then maybe I'd ask.

meh, if I want to prove my manly-love for recoil I'll shoot a mosin, lulz.

As for the AR, it's my fighting-rifle, so I want it to be as easy to make follow-up shots -- and as comfortable -- as possible.

Well considering I don't ever plan on shooting it anywhere but the range, I don't need to worry about it being my fighting rifle :mamoru:

Just a range gun that makes me happy in the pants :big grin:

 thx for the info. i've wanted a CTR, but have been on the edge because i have a 32" discreet case and my gun just fits. if i got the CTR i would need a bigger case.

yea, my current stock measures 6.75" in length. The magpul CTR for a commercial-buffer measures 7.75" in length.

So even with it fully collapsed, your rifle would have an overall length of 1" longer using the magpul.

I also find this really odd because my buffer-tube does not even come flush with my current stock, yet magpul insists that their LONGER stock still needs a spacer????

Then good thing it's not your rifle :mamoru:

I really dig the tan/black combo. That CTR is just temporary, I'm going to get a DE CTR, Pmags, and rail gaurds as well as the grip being tan.
