this was my second time out hunting and i hit my first rabbit this morning. Me and a buddy woke up at 8:30am and went to a an oil field. 10 minutes out there, he spotted the cotton tail from about 150-200yds away. we slowly waleked to it till we got in a range of 75 yds. we were thinking of shooting it from a 100yds, but man, its so freaking hard to see. :ugh: on the count of 3 we were both supposed to fire, but his gun did not feed.:squint: luckily for me, i cleaned my gun last night:naughty: so i was able to get 10 rounds off without jamming. i changed my clip and ran after it. when i got to the spot where i shot him, he popped out and bam! (neck shot that exited his nose). after looking where i shot it, i believed i shot him once on the side because he was limping a little bit before his death. talk about adrenaline rush when you get your first kill. :eek4: anyways if you have any good rabbit recipes, feel free to post it.:hs: we went looking for another one, but it was too cold and foggy. we were lucky that we did not leave empty handed.

!!!WARNING!!! These pictures are kind of gruesome. so dont look if you have a weak stomach or if you love bunnies.

I think you need some more range time though, and its a magazine not a clip.

Meh your doing nature a favor by hunting especially stuff like deer that are way overpopulated in most areas, besides meat from something you killed > grocery store meat.

    rabbit stew-

skin and clean(remove guts). remove tail, feet and head. boil w/meat on bone until it firms up enough to debone easily. pull meat off bone. in a pot mix the deboned meat, potatoes, carrots, onion, chicken broth and a packet of chicken gravy. season to taste. cook at a low boil until veggies are done.

I'd post pictures from my rabbit hunting trips.......but I would seriously probably get banned. We're not really hunting for meat, more for population control now that coyotes are dwindling. You don't eat jackrabbits anyway. But.....yeah they're bad.

it is and it's easy too. just make sure to remove all the pellets if you ever shoot em w/a shotgun. the above recipe will work for beef/venison also, just use beef broth and gravy instead of chicken. and you won't have to worry about the boil/debone steps w/deer and beef.

population must not be very high where you live, around here we can get a limit of 15 per person, and normally its not hard to do that:coolugh:
