Im thinking about purchasing a 97/98 240sx. I would like to see some pictures of nice looking 240's before I do though. Im not 100% sure if I want to buy it. How is the aftermarket support for this car? And what are some websites to buy parts for the car, including engine and body parts?

Don't listen to cap'n jackass. SR20DET = $$$. KA Turbo = not mucho $$$. Plus if you blow the engine, you get another for around $400.

Aftermarket support is getting up there with civic/integra. As for parts it depends on what you want specifically, but most major sites carry parts.

gilwankel: A stock KA put down 400+ whp? You know why you wont see it done.. Because it's not a Forced Induction engine to start with.. In order to make this engine put out 400+ HP you're going to have to modify it. IMHOP the SR20DET is an overrated POS. And this is comming from someone from the 240SX community. It's only true appeal to most people is the entire JDM thing. I'll keep my KA, you can take your SR20
Froz3n00: I'd rather Turbo the KA, than an SR20.. Better engine through and through.

if you want 300-350hp, the SR is the more reliable motor to go with. KA is going to need pistons for any real boost. Although once built up it will take much more power than a stock SR motor.

I'd say if you want upwards of 400hp you should just build up the KA. KA is also a good option if you want under 250hp, just put a small turbo on it and run low boost on the stock engine. SR has a less broad power curve but revs nicer and wont have traction issues quite as much as a 2.4l torquey KA.

Any option you go you wont regret as long as you know what you want out of the car.

i'll post tight pics later... knight-sports.co.jp has tight S14s if you wanna wil out

    thanks for the replies....

I think if I get a 240 Im going to build the KA. Its going to cost me alomst the same amout to turbo the KA then it is to replace it with an SR, and Ill have money to build the engine too. I dont think Ill be doing much track racing too, mostly dragging.

FYI: While that may be an S14, or 95-98 240SX, it has the Silvia S15 frontend conversion. You won't find a stock S14 that looks like that. This is for those who didn't know.

Man, you would be better going for a JZA-70 Supra or something along those lines. Try sticking with the 1JZ-GTE engine - they are far superior engines to blacktop SR-20s. The bottom end on a 1JZ can handle hundreds of horsepower above stock. Very strong engines. And it would probably be cheaper to buy as well...

OK well you're dumb and wrong, Because my local shop has a 539 HP Blacktop SR20 And it has the stock bottom end....

"The appropriately named "Trogdor" is the flagship of our fleet. Boasting 539rwhp on an SR20DET with a fully stock bottom end a few goodies here and there ;). Rolling on 5Zigen FN1ORC's and Falken Azeni's, this thing isnt your average nissan 240sx" http://www.secretservicesinc.com/trogdor.html

The Kouki's were my first love....But I've grown to appreciate the stylings of all of the 240SX models, except one. The hog nose(89-90) is just plain ugly!

man, you dont have to be so abusive hey... thats just rude - give your opinion but myself and others dont want to hear it if its not constructive... JZA-70 supra's are cheaper (at least here in aus they are 6 to 10 thousand less) as well as having a better engine to work cheaply and reliably up to higher horsepower levels. If the SR20 was so damn good why dont you see more of them worked off their nuts to SPL levels?
