Finally got all the pieces put together today.

    CR Speedbelt
    Uncle Mike's kydex holster #26
2x Springfiled XD double mag pouches
    4x XD 16 round mags
Springfiled XD 9mm tactical, level 1 Springer trigger kit (level 2 on order), Springer extended mag release.

Some points I'm pondering: Mag pouches- not sure I'm going to like the XDs because of the angle of the second mag in each pouch. It is canted a little rearward and in doing some practice mag drop/reload/dry fire the second one didn't feel as smooth as the first when coming out of the pouch. The suck part is that the CR speed pouches are $30 each and that pinches when you are buying 5-6 at a time.

Also, my holster has worn a line on my take down lever on my pistol. Apparently the grommet that the screw goes into that hold the belt loop on the holster is scraping right across it and has made an ugly line. Irritating. Maybe I'll change the take down lever out with a hard chromed piece. I like my stuff to look good. Merely cosmetic.

    Enjoy, critique, discuss, flame.

Looks good! You shooting production? if so, you'll need to push the holster and pouches back a little so they are both behind your hip bones, otherwise it's good. There's always some "tweaking" to be made with everything as you will find out. It's what makes it fun and interesting.

You can either allow it wear down, or find out the exact place the gun is contacting the holster and file it down yourself. I don't care and mines are worn down just perfect now. Later on you'll find, in the competitive shooting world, a worn down gun is a thing of beauty to the gamers. It shows character, and looks pretty bad ass, I think. A worn gun, shows a gun being used as it should... being shot!

As for pouches, you can fight with it, or just swallow the pill and get the CR speed pouches. The cool thing, is, if you are like me and get into it and buy a bunch of guns, they all work in teh CR speed versa pouches. I use Glock mags, XD mags, 1911 mags, CZ mags, all with my set up.

if you know someone with a business license, have them open up a Brownells account and you can buy gear with a discount. I got mine for 28 a piece I think.

I haven't actually shot my first match yet. I will this coming week so the set-up was stricly for the gun porn money shot.

I know I will eventually get the CR pouches but i will use what I got now.

BTW, you ned to stop pimping your 1911 'cause i want one like now and you aren't helping. ;)

Seriously, once i get further into it and want to start shooting single stack I'm getting a Springfield Loaded in 9mm. Looked at the STI Spartan but they are only in .45 and I'm trying to stick to reloads in 9mm.

I'm buying another 9mm 1911 and it's going to be the STI Trojan. That's a pretty bad ass pistol in 9mm as well and is very popular. But I love my Springer.

WA state Single Stack Championships next weekend! I'm fuckin' stoked!

OK, one thing I have never asked about competitions: what do you get for winning individual matches or is it a season points thing or what??

I want something for my money spent and time in the matches.

Oh yea, you suck on the Trojan. My wife would poop a kitten if i told her I wanted one of those to compete with. Wht do you do for a living?

I messed up one of 45acp xd mags having it in the mag holder like that. It may not be an issue in 9mm, but the 45 holder is made to have the one mag face the other way around.

Club matches, it's mostly bragging rights. I'm entered into a year long Championship series that pays out. If you shoot an STI gun or frame at a major event, and run one of their shirts, they pay you $600 for 1st place, $300 for 2nd.

I'm a Sr. Business Systems Analyst. I work with for one of the big Teleco companies supporting their accounting department helping them with process and system solutions.

As for the XD pouches, they should be inserted with bullets forward.

Looks like a nice setup. I'm not a big fan of the "snap-in" holster like the Uncle Mikes, but the stiffness of the CR Speed should help with getting a clean draw.

Actually, they're pretty slick. I only wish it was easier to get on my belt without having to take it off to put it on. They cant the pouch nicely towards the outside making it easier to grab, and if you don't have to run multiples (which you should "need" to for ccw) the canted second mag is nicely canted away, allowing for a clean grab at the first mag.

I use mine all the time for IDPA, reloading from concealment.

Are you sure about this? I don't have my xd stuff here at work, but after my mag lip problem I figured that since the holder wasn't shooting hand specific that the bullets had to face each other when loaded in the holder?

100% sure on bullets forward, else your magazine is going to go into the magazine well backwards.

Actually, I just pictured how you can grab the magazine from your holster so that it will go in correctly even when you have bullets facing backward. It goes against the way your hand works though. And it will be very uncomfortable reaching back to 8o'clock this way. It could work ok if your mags were in 10'o clock position.

Definitely a big no to bullets facing each other in the mag holster. Then you will have to practice two different ways to change your mag, one for the mag with bullets facing backward and one for the mag with bullets facing forward.

    correct.

I'm absolutely sure as I used them that way to shoot IDPA and USPSA almost every weekend last couple of months. This is how you should always place your mags so as your weak hand sweeps the mag and is pulling from your pouch, the mag is placed in your hand so the front of your mag (bullets forward) is parallel with in your palm, with your pointer finger laying against the front for mag for insertion, with the rest of your hands grasping the magazine body.

It's much faster and less complicated that way, and this is the technique that is taught almost everywhere universaly.
