    I like them

    I guess you could improve them by shooting in more direct sunlight, but other than, pretty cool.

    Actually direct sunlight make pictures worse with harsh highlights and squinting subjects. :hs:

    try not to shoot backlit, or if you do burn the face of the dog a bit

    As fatass said. Have the dog face you into the sun, or fill in the shadows with a fill flash. You're not going for a super dramatic portrait of your dog.
