shot these using either 1/60 or 1/90, in shutter priority mode...
    used autofocus...
i sat in the car, aimed out the driver side window, and rotated my torso to do the panning...i will try standing & panning next time...
    the weather was a bit overcast...so i didn't use a CPOL...

how can i make these motion shots better and sharper??

They do look pretty good. "Panning" takes along time to master. Figure half of the focal length = shutter speed, ie 1/150 at 300mm, or 1/100 at 200mm and work backwords to slower shutter speeds at longer focal lengths. If you shoot Canons and can afford an IS lens, they help quite a bit.

Practice, practice, practice... I shot 20 or 30 rolls at my first CART race working on my technique.

1/60 is usually good if the subject is going fast enough. i think panning better is the trick to making the images sharper. here are a few of the good ones i've shot.
