a lot of them are off focus .. i shot some with a 50mm 1.4. I really need to invest in a flash.

PP is great (presets?) OOF kills it for a few though. Some seem back focused more than anything

Seems like you have some ghostly images, what aperture are you shooting? You shutter speed seems like it could be fast enough to cancel that out.

I think the main reason people aren't saying those photos suck is because of the subject matter, not the skill of the photographer. I say that because the photos that don't have an interesting human subject are terrible. Even the ones that do have a human subject are out of focus or processed and/or composed poorly.

Nearly all of your photos are pelfed. The black and white conversions are poor, the processing done on the female child is the same kind of processing I'd do on a business man and 10 is... well... I'm blue... da ba de. Your processing is all over the place and I don't get any kind of consistent feeling between the photos.

There never seems to be any background separation between the subject and the environment and the power lines in 3 and 6 should have been removed before you did any other processing. 11 is amazingly under exposed.

13 was your best chance at a great photo, but it's ruined by a short focal length and an aperture that was too high. F2.8 at 50mm was the sweet spot for that photo, and going in for a second closeup portrait would have been epic.

The easy way to pull your subject off of the background is to use your aperture, open it up and zoom all the way in. Back yourself physically up if you have to. At 17mm f6.3 shooting people, you're going to take a bunch of shitty photos.

 honest truth. I seriously think these were some bad pics I took. I rushed most of the pics and def think your right about the seperation between the background and the subject.
