I went camping on cumberland island and decided to dust off ye olde D70 of lore and fable, and see if it still worked. Shockingly, it did.

Camping on a 30 mile long island with a sugar-sand beach the whole way sound soooo great... until that shit starts to worm its way into your gear. NOT fun :wtc:

Here's the map of the AWESOME place <3 http://www.nps.gov/cuis/upload/IslandMap.pdf\

This stuff is my first time shooting in any kind of attempt at goodness in almost a year. Go easy on me please?

    Numbered.

Yeah, the place is truly special :) in the winter it's uber empty, too. we hiked 11 miles one day, 10 another, on a pristine beach the whole way. Ran into like 4 people.

We found more sand dollars than people. not many places you can go and do that in today's world.

I like 1 and 2, but the others meh. Although I guess they are very good memories for you, so it makes a good album for later.

1, 2, and 8 look fantastic to me.

the rest look like the pictures i take. not bad, but their missing the coolness of the three i mentioned that really hit the nail.

Yeah, I can honestly say I'm not that happy with a lot of the pics I took, and apparently I have horizonitis, wherein a good third of them are WAY OFF on horizon-leveling, and not on purpose :(

Also, does anyone know what might break a light meter? It seems like at least half the time I'm diddling the exposure compensation setting because the camera automatically underexposes by as much as a whole freaking stop or more. The sunset photos (1 and 4) had that problem, as did a ton of others that I didn't post (but probably will.... brace yourselves). I'm using a D70 right now, and it's starting to make me le sad.

    But they're awesome memories :hugOT:

Also, it was 82*f the day I left there (thursday or friday of last week)

edit: Also, it was kind of a bitch to take a lot of the photos I wanted to, because I.... I lost my tripod :wtc: I just don't know where I put it! It's been a year since I used it last, and it sucked anyway, so I don't miss it toooo much, but still that sucks.

I need to hit the lottery and stock up on decent lenses and a bogen CF tripod.

I loathe it here in Ohio now. I went from 82*F to... 2*F

Nah. I mean while the image is still in the cam, the histogram will come up on the image preview and show that it's completely flat for the last quarter of the graph :(

    i like 1, 4, and 9.

7 & 8 would be better a little lighter, the dark areas are just way too dark imo...
