i've decided to pick up small game hunting since i now live at ECU out in the middle of bumfuck nowhere. I'm getting rid of my AR15 for it b/c i've decided that i don't like the 20" setup and would rather have an M4gery. i'm gonna save up gradually and build one gradually. anyway, i'm trading my AR for it plus cash.

    -stainles 10/22 rifle receiver
-Hornet trigger guard assembly with full Volquartsen internals
-Volquartsen .17HM2 SS barrel with cantilever scope mount
-Premier II adjustable target stock with full, steel reinforced bedding.
    -Volquartsen .17HM2 bolt
-Weaver V-16 4-16x42 scope with target dot reticle, sunshades (will remove when i get it) and Butler creek flip up covers
    -600 rounds of ammo
    -hard case

That scop is insane. Almost as long as the rifle.
How does the price of .17HM2 compare to .22lr?

I think it costs alot more than .22. I remember my friend saying that he almost never uses his .17 and only uses a box of ammo when he goes to the range, and that his 10/22 is for screwing around

.17HM2 is about 5 bucks for 50 last I checked. Compare that to .17HMR which is about 7-10 bucks /50

I don't really understand .17s.. is it cost effective as .22?

    Nice guncase, though.

.17HM2 is one of those calibers that has no reason to exist and will hopefully die in the next decade.

I wouldn't waste the time or money on a .17HM2, they're expensive and don't offer enough of a performance gain over the regular .22LR to be worthwhile, plus I doubt it'll still be around in 10 years, as sales are lackluster.

I heard they are supposed to shoot alot flatter than 22.lr. How much flatter are we talking? Also, they have an advantage over the non-subsonice 22 ammo?

I thought you were selling your AR cause you were a "broke college student" with an M3 and $800 motorcycle that you're going to be commuting on but keeping your blinged out 10/22.....
