I want to pick up a .45 to compliment my 9mm. I want it to be compact so I can carry it also.

i've narrowed it down to a compact 1911, a Sig 245 or a USPc .45. I'm very interested in picking up a 245 since I love Sigs and it is a very compact and attractive gun.

    1911

does anyone have any positive or negative experience with these?

After using the XD45 I would go with no other, and I hated the XD for years.

personally, i'm very "meh" towards the XDs. I don't like how they shoot and they look and feel cheap to me. i know that some ppl swear by the XDs but i don't think i'm gonna consider one. thanks for the suggestion though.

I've carried the Glock21 in 45, numerous 1911's, Sig 220 and the HK USP45, Im a huge fan of the SIG, just don't like the mag capacity. I have been using the XD for months now and truly believe it is superior in all catagories. Unlike some 1911's that require maintenance to run, the XD does not and the weight for a carry piece was another consideration I highly looked at. It is alot more compact than the fullsize Glock and it's accuracy is on PAR, it by far out did the 220 on it's magazine capacity, the cost effectiveness of it verses the USP was the deciding issue on that matter when I was thinking about buying another H&K. And the XD has always gone bang for me dirty or not much like the Glock. I'd say take a trip to a range where you can try out all of the above and let that be the deciding factor instead of what a bunch of people say on a message board. You are the one that will be carrying this weapon, none of us.

haha, thanks. well, i already have a 9mm and i really don't see a reason to go .40 over 9mm, so i'm pretty sure I want to get a .45

Out of the 2 USP. I'd go with a Glock though.

Personally it would be between a Glock & 1911... so if you're ruling out Glock then I vote 1911.

Your .45 pic is a redX btw.

Since you don't want a glock I'd go with the sig. They are sexy guns, I'll probably pick one up in the future.

just went to the gunshop to check some of my choices out. Spent some time handling my choices, along with other things they had there. I looked at the XDs and glocks like some of you suggested. The XDs were alright but i just didn't find them to be very pleasing.
I actually liked some of the glocks like the G19 and G30. I just wish they had a .45 compact instead of the subcompact.

They didn't have a p245 but they had a 220R carry that i really liked the feel of. the grip is a bit large but not much more than my 229R so i could deal with it.

Now the 1911s i really liked. they had a bunch of fullsize and one compact and i enjoyed the feel of them all. now i'm tempted to get a fullsize because it is such a slim gun. They didn't have any USPs, but i remember my old USPf 9mm well enough to know that i don't really like the HK grips or trigger.

Anyway, i'm gonna think about my options more and read up on the 220R carry.

The G30 is a subcompact in name only, it's about the same size as a G19.

I have a full size wide body 1911, a commander size 1911 and an HK USPcT. Between the commander and USPc, it would be a hard choice. If I wasn't going to put a can on it, I'd prolly go with the 1911.

take a look at the combat commander 1911, quicker on the draw as you don't have to lift the gun out of the holster as far, the exta 2 inches can make a difference.
