I'm looking for a good flashlight to carry around and have been looking at the Surefire G2 mainly because of it's price but want to make sure that is the best choice. Any other really good suggestions around the same price range?

G2's are great lights. If money's tight the Brinkman Maxfire is a good light for ~$20 and similar brightness to the G2's. I personally carry either a Streamlight TL-2 or a Strion daily. The TL-2's can be had for good deals also. Next up is going to be an L4 for EDC use, and probably a E2E for "tactical" use.

If you bought a G2 and then an aftermarket LED conversion, you'd have yourself quite the versatile setup right there.

I have one, not the best because if u notice the clip makes it so that if u want to clip it to your pocket like i often do the sharp claws will point up. everytime i reach into my pocket for my cell phone it scratches the hell out of my hand.

I would like to remove the clip and wear it in a belt holster if possible. Can you do that?

I have an L2 which is absolutely amazing, but I carry my G2.

The G2 is a good light, and when, not if, but WHEN you lose it you won't care because it was so cheap.

    Get the G2.

It's the shiznit and small enough to stick in your pocket. Don't let the specs fool you on this light, it's bright as hell. I light up the pine trees across the street from my house at night to check out the owl that hangs out there. It's a badass light for sure

I might be upgrading my G2 with a G90 lamp and 2 R123's. Should be good for 100+ lumens. Or maybe the G90HP for 175 lumens.
