So I finally narrowed down my choice between the Springfield GI .45 and the Rock Island Armory, and came out with the RIA Government .45. Picked it up for $310 out the door, brand new. So far it shoots awesome, but it definately needs a new set of sights, the GI sights suck. It came with an 8rd Novak mag, the only problem is if I load it up with 8 rds. i always have a FTF, but with 7 rds. its not a problem. Hopefully the McCormick magazines I am ordering will fix that.

I also picked up a couple of flashlights. The brand is Cyclops and they are only $20 at Sam's Club for a pack of 2, also came with 4 CR123A batteries. It was too good of a deal to pass up. The packaging says they are 80 Lumens, even though I don't have anything to compare these by, they seem extremely bright. The body is machined aluminum, and has a push button tail cap. They feel very solid and well built for the price.

looks nice.. maybe the springs are too heavy in the mag..

be sure to let us know if a new mag fixes it

Sure as hell not on my list.

Nice purchase. I'd like to see how that light compares to a Surefire G2.

The Novak mags come with very stiff springs that need to break in. Try loading, unloading, and reloading every day for a week. After doing that for a few days mine's been feeding just fine.

Everyone says that about these, yet they still get decent reviews.. I mean, they're not top of the line at all, but they're still alright for the money..

I have a RIA. If FTF becomes a problem down the road, even with your new Mags, look into replacing the extractor or tweaking it. The tension on the extractor might be too tight.
