got dang that barrel is long as hell and looks like it would be hard to use in enclosed spaces (home defense). how many shells does that thing hold?

Not really for home defense, but I guess it could be used for that. Its more for hunting and just shooting at stuff. It holds 4+1

I've got a 28" on my bird gun.

Something to look forward to --

I've had over 18,000 shells through one of my 870's and it is better than it was the first day I bought it. Additionally, I clean it abotu every 3k rounds. Granted, when I do clean it I virtually break it down to pins and springs, but still, it goes like a Timex.

If you wanna use it as a HD gun, just pick up an old beat-up 18.5" barrel at your next gun show, refinish it, and you'll be good to go.

That is a great shotgun. Someone once told me that if you like to shoot (shotguns) get a 870, because sooner or later you will get one. Man was he right. That is the best gun I have ever shot. (Well, I like it, some may disagree but that's my opinion)

I'm still looking for an 870P MAX since it seems to be the perfect HD shotgun straight from Remington.

I prefer the controls on the Mossberg, but you really can't say one is better than the other.

10 full 24hr periods after they recieve your paperwork:rolleyes:. So for me, that was the day after i bought it since i bought it at 5pm.

And i prefer the Remington because the woodstocks feel SO much better then the mossburg, Plus I wanted a changeable choke barrel.

ditto.. and thank god I don't live in Kalifornia. Five minutes and the Mossberg was mine.

Dang, that makes the 18" barrel on my 870 look like a sawed off.
