I was @ the gun/bow shop earlier with my dad. I got a holster for my ThermaCELL and he had some arrows re-nocked. I had been toying with the idea of getting my wife a handgun for Xmas anyway. When we were checking out a guy in front of me was looking at the P3AT and LCP trying to decide which to get for his son, since he already had a P3AT. I told him what I had heard (on here) about some of the LCPs having problems. He decided to get the Keltec.

While we were at the counter checking out, and waiting on his paperwork, we got to talking guns and he ended up offering to let me shoot his P3AT that was in the truck. So I took him up on it and went out back to burn through a mag of JHPs. I liked it so much I decided to get one for my wife.

I went over to the case and what I thought was the last one in .380 was actually in .32  So I ended up with the LCP

Shot a box of Magtech through it with no problems, so maybe I got a good one, we'll see:dunno:
Came home and cleaned it up so she won't know I shot it before her

cliffs: wanted a keltec, ended up with the LCP, shoots fine so far. Feels better in my hand than the Keltec

so you decided on a gun to buy but because they didn't have the caliber you wanted you went ahead and bought a different gun that you had previously talked another customer out of buying due to the possibility of problems with it. The fuck?

Maybe just me, but I'd rather have a gun that works w/o fucking with it. :dunno:

Ignoring all the other Keltec/LCP stuff....

Does your wife want one? That's a very tiny gun for her to shoot unless she's an accomplished shooter. Just as with J-frames, P3AT/LCP's aren't beginners guns.

It just cracks me up when people buy their SO's tiny new guns that they can't shoot well....

She shoots better than most people I know. She's shot cowboy action several times and one side of the safe is filled with her guns.

If she ends up not liking it I'll carry it and get her something else.

As with J frames, it's not a gun you're going to take to the range and fire hundreds of rounds through for fun. You shoot enough through it to be comfortable (to make sure it feeds reliably) and carry it because it's small and very concealable (especially for a woman that isn't going to change her wardrobe to carry a gun)

Not quite my philosophy. I want to be proficient with any firearm to choose to carry for self defense. Shot placement is still #1.

Srsly. My P3AT is my least favorite gun to shoot. :o

Even with a hogue, it's hell on your hands. Practice is pain... but the good kind.

I have a P32 that I LOVE. Want to pick up a .380 when I see a decent deal on one.

Oddly enough I ditched the hogue that I got with mine. I honestly don't mind shooting my P3AT at all. It is a little snappy but never uncomfortable to me. I had a worse time with my old G26 that would rub my trigger finger raw from the flip. I do still need to buy a decent IWB for mine. I don't carry it much but when I have, I just use the clip.

I need to have my slide refinished though. I have to re-oil that thing weekly or surface rust shows up.
