GUN Picked up a plinker. Did I get a decent deal?

Went to a gunshow today and saw a Ruger 10/22 on one of the tables. I've been wanting a good plinker for a while now and what else than one of these. I'd say the stock is about 80-85%, and the serial number indicates that its a pre-ban. I dont know if that matters all that much with these small rifles, but I guess it doesnt hurt. It also came with one 25 round mag and a bushnell 4x scope. I paid 145 for it, and when I saw the price I thought it was a deal. After I bought it, one man came up to me and asked if I had just purchased it. I think he was eyeing it too. Then later on 3 seperate vendors asked if I wanted to sell it.

    So did I do okay?

as long as it's in good shape, i'd say that's a good deal.

Cool, thanks. I wasnt sure if I got a good deal or not, but from the looks of it It wasnt too bad. I've been looking at the aftermarket for these things and holy crap. I dont even think you need a 10/22 to build off of, you can build one completly out of aftermarket parts. Lots of goodies to get dont know what to do first. Any suggestions?

None of my hi cap mags work well. That's fine for plinking, but if I'm hunting, I use the Ruger magazine. I got my 10/22 stainless for $175 canadian, hardly used :eek3:

My friend has a clip like that and it always jams. If only they made a 50 round rotary. :o

Those mags misfeed cause they have plastic feed lips that get worn out over time. There are a few companies that make metal feed lip magazines, look for those.

They do, but it costs maore than a new Ruger. I can't wait until the AW ban sunsets.

Yeah, I thought mine high cap was a POS when I took it out for the very first time. It was mis-feeding. But the first time I took it out, I didnt clean it or anything. It was a used gun so I wanted to check if it worked and put a hundred rounds or so through it. I took it home and opened it up and holy hell, this thing was DIRTY. I spent a good hour and a half dissasembling it and cleaning every piece. I took it out again and viola! No malfuntions what so ever. :)

I really like this thing, I can see why they have such a big aftermarket. They are very user-friendly.

If I remember correctly, the better hi-cap mags were Buter Creek Hot Lips.

The "hot lips" are the mags with the plastic lips. The "Metal lips" are metal lipped, obviously. :hs:
