Gonna be going to Europe severla times this year, and I wanted to grab a PS. I was going to get a g11, but Im leaving for a trip in two days and couldn't get one in time

Decided to go with the lx3, and test drive it in poland. These shots were just from my day in Chicago, just snapshots to test it out. So far I'm impressed, the lens is wide and fast and pretty sharp. These were all "boosted" (preset) in LR. None of these go above ISO 400, once it does, things go downhill fast I'm afraid :sad2: I'll post examples of that later.

8 shows the distortion at the wide end, and I noticed some mad fringing here, specifically in 4, that I didn't correct. Hmm also her face is pretty soft and red there lol.

So anyway, overall I am impressed so far. The controls are set up well, when using manual exposure you use a four way joy stick to control your shutter and aperture. Toggle horizontal to choose between aperture and shutter, and up or down to change the fstop/speed. Videos look good on it, and the auto focus and metering controls are pretty easy to use as well. I messed around wth the included raw conversion software on the above pictures, pretty decent stuff I suppose.

I was worried the controls would be awkward.

The thing that is great about this camera is how functional it is while being so convenient at the same time. I would have never taken any of these pictures today had I not had the LX3, because I wouldn't have wanted to deal with bringing an SLR around. In Chicago I am constantly seeing things that make me say "damn, that'd make a great picture", but I never have my camera on me unless I have specific plans to use that. This will change that. Spontaneity is key.
