Here's a comparison shots with my Nikon 60mm Macro lens. I haven't really used it since is dark now, but the build quality is good, constructed of metal. It weights about a pound so it's pretty heavy. I got it for $230 and it looks brand new, it even came with an UV filter. Shots were taken at 70mm for the 35-70mm and 60mm on the macro, both at F4 ISO100 with built in flash.

The color and contrast is excellent on this lens, better than the 60mm macro, however the 60mm macro is sharper, honestly I haven't used a lens sharper than the 60mm macro, including the Nikon 50mm f/1.8 and Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8.

I really don't like the push/pull zooming mechanism but oh well. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, even happier it cost $230.

The 35-70mm even has a built in macro mode at 35mm, only 1:4 ratio

I have this lens also - great piece of glass. It is like having a prime zoom. It is very sharp wide open. I luff mine. :wiggle:

i've been looking for a push/pull lens...mainly because I wanted to use one, not buy one. I've only seen one used once before.
