    I prefer the laptop close to my back, like on DaKines bags. on the outer flap I'd be scared to bang it somewhere

    That's about the only concern I have. A good thing about it not having the laptop against your back is if you don't have a laptop in the bag, the support system is sometimes screwed. I have a laptop backpack that is horrid without the laptop in it :hs: This will be nice in Moab tomorrow morning, so much better than the stupid ass little shoulder bag I had.

    Nice bag.
    Too bad you need the water shield. Thats one thing that really bothered me and why I ended up going with this bag... also, I dont carry a lot of gear so this is great.

    It will stand up to rain just fine but it doesnt have straps for a tripod which sort of sucks.

    Yeah, the tripod thing is a must since I'll be using this hiking too :hs:

    I had a guy install a strap and "basket" to hold my tripod on my sling bag. It's great.

    meh, the lowepro and especially vertex bags are way too heavy

    look at the thinktank airport antidote
