This was a 9mm WWB that I fired into a telephone pole remnant on my uncle's property. It went through about 2.5-3" of wood, I shot the side outside edge of the pole so it came to a rest near the surface (sort of shot it on a tangent) and I dug it out.

Even though it's FMJ I expected more damage to it.

it was interesting to me because it went into solid wood instead of paper and appears largely unscathed.

if that was a 10mm, you'd be fishing the telephone pole out from it

at 10 yards it's doubtful that I would even be here to talk about it. :noes:

When I was a kid I found a .45 slug on our back patio. It was flat on one side.

I'll have to take some pics when i get home but I did some ballistic testing on a few test pieces of carbon fiber with honeycomb in the middle using different pistol and rifle rounds. Everything went through even with kevlar laminated in, until we wrapped dry kevalr on the front. Cured it would break but dry it caught all the pistol calibers and bulged out the back. I've got a nice balled up .44 mag from about 10 ft :big grin:

Anyway, I'll post some pics this evening of the panel and the rounds. One of the .40's jacket came off, the .44 expanded nicely for a lead nose, one .45 FMJ is all flattened, it's a good selection.
