I saw this tree along the road today and had to take a pic. It was raining light/moderate so a B/W was the only real option. Then it started pissing rain so I got back in car and went home.

with good reason, there is no reason to have a crooked horizon, even if it's off a little bit you should be able to fix it in post

I think pelf is fine...if there's a reason for it.

problem is...most pelf is obviously accidental, adds nothing, and says "I just didnt give a shit".
and that usually goes for the rest of the pic too.

i dont really like that version at all.

    to the original
I really like the tree centered, i'd burn the black hole in the center of the tree a bit more to emphasize it (i think it tells a good story and explains the centering), and maybe dodge the sky to get some pure white and give contrast..

Now that is something I'll try to do. Well if I can see it when its foggy. Usually up here in these corn fields if its foggy you can't even see the hood of your car.

As for crooked horizon, sorry I was on a tripod and used a carpenters level to get the scene as it looks to my eyes. Someone should check with god/evolution and ask if they can adjust that landscape:noes: I also shot several with the tree off center is several different versions with straight horizons, and different tilts and I like it natural and since its a portrait of a tree centered looks best as well. Maybe on a different day when I can walk out into the field I'll see if there are any other angles that would give something more to the off center look.

I like the version the dude edited pretty well. Can you tell me what you did? I am good at editing astrophotography stuff, but still completely new to daytime shots.

Good idea on the hole in the center, I didn't like the look when I edited to get the sky brighter. It caused the branches to get really annoying looking.
