I have a terrible problem with bots registering on my site. I've put in place a few counter-measures (open answer box, auto fail on website field, etc...) and they are still killing me. Any advice?

I did some custom stuff, disabled sigs/websites in registration, if they are passed the user gets dropped. There was a mod that did this but I modded that and dropped more stuff and tested for it since bots are alot smarter now. I drop users and posts if they post a link on their first post. I altered the time zone info, most bots use the default setting (-12hrs I think), I drop users that use that timezone and made the -12 time zone use a different setting. I use the std phpbb visual letters thing too.

In the end you'll still end up getting bogus signups, they aren't bots, there are real people signing up to spam. I drop non-verified accounts once a week and I drop 0 post accounts 5 days after being verified ...
