I gotta do a project using PHP and MySQL but do not know what to use to run the scripts besides having web hosting. I read online that you can use Apache HTTP Server for winXP but everytime I try to install Apache it freezes at the start. My project is due in a couple weeks and I need to know how I can run it. Any help?

what kind of system are you installing it on? You sure you aren't mixing architectures? i.e. 32bit vs 64bit? Installed apache plenty of times on windows machines, and never had a problem.

if you want to run your server "at home" on your xp machine than i recommend XAMPP which you can get here: http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp.html

Very easy to setup, it has everything a beginner needs.

What POS school doesn't even give you a server to work with? :ugh:

But yeah, if you're on your own XAMPP looks like the way to go.
