If the user successfully logs in, I set a session variable to true and save the username and the ip address in a table on the database. I was wondering how often i should check the ip address of the user, if i should at all. I was thinking like every 10 minutes or something. Or is just having the session variable set to true secure enough?

IP checking can be an issue when users are behind a load balancer setup. Ie: large offices, dorms, etc.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Are you looking to just make sure that the user that logged in is the only one using the account?
