nothing all that exciting both weather and car wise, i wish the CGT would have gone out for a couple runs but it was just there for moral support. my friend (in the red a4) and i went around the track for a couple parade laps behind a new black ferrari f430 that sounded simply amazing. great track.

majority of these were ISO 200 / AWB @ 1/80-1/100 shutter speeds with varying apertures.

A bit too contrasty and your panning shots aren't that sharp. Seems like you tried to compensate with USM but that just made matters alot worse. :hs:

:hsd: yeah shooting in ~50 degree weather on top a RV doesnt help to steady the hands either. lol.

and truth about the saturdation / contrast, its time to recalibrate the monitor. jesus, that shit is off.

yes, i post over at automotivephoto as well.

i believe the track is a bit longer than 2 miles and is pretty damn flat, with exception at the end of a lap with a few turns and a blind hill that if you are entering pretty fast you WILL catch air.

I think the panning shots look quite sharp myself. I think its the jpeg compression and resize that gave it the rough edges. :dunno:

No, that's what happens when you use unsharp mask to try to over sharpen an image that is blurred only in the horizontal axis. A better alternative might be smart sharpen with a motion blur mask, but the best solution would be to nail the pans.

That red audi either has no tires, or you put a thousand pounds of bricks in the trunk.. looks like crap - love the lowered look - but lowered WAY too much, why did you do that??

Sorry, good pictures, just had to say it :)

I really like what you do. Any tips for great panning shots? What type of settings do you use or suggest?

That's not the problem, the problem is oversharpening.

The problem can also happen during resize.

But if this one is from oversharpening then oky.

It's actually two-fold. The first is that his pans aren't completely sharp to begin with and hes over compensating with USM.
