I'm seeing a lot of noise for outdoors shots, are you shooting in auto? ISO auto?

Are you serious? My ISO speed was like 400 and I think it may have been auto, silly me :(

Auto tends to pick shitty combinations of ISO/Aperture sometimes.

For outdoors sunny shots, try using aperture priority mode and set the ISO to 100. The cam will take care of the shutter speed. It will be good to learn DOF control. That lens will probably be sharpest from f/2.8-f/4, but you can certainly play around throughout the whole range.

how'd you like the fixed focal length?

That's odd though, it says I shot in 400 and I was sure I shot at 100 because I was using M mode and I thought I had set it to 100 :/ I'm confused now.

:werd: you took almost every single one of these from a standing position... rendering most of them boring, or average at best.

Learning on a prime takes work, no cheating with a twist of the zoom ring :)

Like others said, crouch down, get on the ground, stand on tables, find good angles, primes are great for learning because they make you move around and work for the composition.
