    any tips/pointers?

dont use a wide angle lens?

    vertical shots > horizontal

should i take pics of me facing down on them? it makes them look skinnier?

    what else?

Shoot them frm a 45-60º angle so they look slimmer, try not to take shots with both arms in full view. Make sure they wear dark colors, vertical stripes, and if they are male, "high" hair or if female, long hair can decrease how "wide" they look. Darker backgrounds, with vertical lines are also good. Focus lighting on their best feature, shadow off other features (pot belly). Shooting from a low angle can make them look taller, but really...if they're fat, they're fat and you can only do so much.

    natelam > gu--ru :crying:

:werd: on selective lighting.. maybe go with a one light setup

let falloff and maybe vignetting hide some of their less photogenic features

consider using a 300mm or longer lens if you have the space to compress the image plane

use a lens with heaps of pincushion distortion, to compensate for their nauseatingly whale-like shape.

lol do at least one where you're laying on the ground shooting up with a wide angle, maybe even a feesheye. it'll make them look like the blob :x:
