ever since I got my 80-200, umbrellas, stands and the strobist video, I haven't been able to shoot ANYTHING successfully.

When it happens to me, I just get on my bike with one body, two pocket wizards, one flash and one lens and tool around downtown or out in the country. You could always find random people from MM and set up shoots :dunno:

just browse some photography websites, find a shot or two you like and try to reproduce something similar. While you're doing that, you'll most likely come up with another way to shoot the shot. That's what I did with a couple of my model shots.

dont try to replicate what you see in the videos, most of the time you end up copying someone elses idea

if its a hobby, im sorry for you

if its what you do for a living, the creativity comes usually on the spot

    Fucking dot!

Most people lose interest or motivation because they browse other photographer's sites, blogs, videos, etc and see that most everything has been done over and over again and thus think what they're going to do won't be different. Just go out and have fun. If you like the images then great, if you don't no biggie. But getting out there is key, even if you have no clue where you're going or what you're doing.

I have a ton of ideas, But I just don't go and shoot them. I'm also lacking good locations for a shoot.

I need to contact some of the guys that do freestyle that I shot before and shoot that again.

Good luck with getting out and shooting.

whenever I get in a slump I force myself to shoot something that I don't normally shoot, like flowers, or abstracts.... it usually helps get my motivation back up and the creative juices flowing.

I'm with Jcolman on this. If you start looking at some photog's websites, you'll start getting ideas.

Gotta get those creative juices flowing. :naughty:

I hit this block a couple of weeks ago. Went downtown and shot about 500 pictures. :big grin:

Next weekend, I might take the train down to New Orleans. Sick of shooting downtown in my city.
