Needless to say, I am :wtc:.

7.62x54R isn't so cheap anymore. Neither is 7.62x39.

    5.56/.223 and 8mm Mauser, fahgetaboutit.

Looks like I need to move up my plans to purchase an AK-74. The Henderson Defense rifle looks good. Any other suggestions?

    :eek3:

is THAT what I have to do??

I was hoping I can just put the rifle together from parts with screw drivers or some other common tool. :mamoru:

the one panzerace used for his romy-g charges about $250 or $275 for tantals. that includes cleaning, and parking.

Most prebuilt AK-74s go for about the same price, right? $600-650.

Polish tantal is probably the way to go then. I hate those tantal stocks though, so ugly and useless. :hs:

Tantals use the same rear trunnion as fixed stock AKs so you can swap it out in 2 mins. Your next lowest priced kit is going to be a Bulgarian triangle folder or wood kit. Those run about $350-$450 plus a $100 NDS receiver. Quality is on par with Polish kits.

buy the tantal kit and sell the stock for a fixed one. it's what i plan to do.

the tantals are not only cheaper, but the stocks sell for like $50-$100 depending on the kit (or so i've heard)
