I have super straight hair. And I'm sorta bored with it.
Whenever I curl it, I just feel so much better... like my hair is fuller and has some umph to it lol..
I've never read up on perms, nor have any of my friends gotten perms (or even thought about it- they do that asian perma-straightening thing).. but anyways my questions are:

how long does the process take? cost? damages to the hair? and how long does it last?
any girls here gotten a perm before?

    :dunno:

    thanks :hs:

It's quite damaging as far as I know.

I showed Jacy how to curl your hair with a flat iron before. There are youtube videos out there. It takes as long as blowdrying, and infinitely better results.

    Please don't perm.

Plus there's the fact that curls every single day are just as boring.

japanese perms look really cute, not like the traditional perming we're used to...

perming is really big in japan, and a little costly. my girlfriend is going to get her's done again next time she goes, they tend to last for a while. japanese perms are more wavy, less curly and do not use the top part of the hair.

    yeah

theres a shop near by run by taiwanese who cut my hair who also do perming (they copy everything japanese). they're are a few japanese salons up here in SF so there has to be some in Little Tokyo or somewhere close down there. Try finding some japanese salons online and see if they do perming. Bring them many pictures of styles you like. :dunno:

Your girlfriend does it like that now, dude? In pics i've seen of her she always has it straight with a part, like BoA's old hair.

I wonder if they have a place in Hawaii that can do it, some of my gfs are curious after I showed them those pics you posted. :o

not now, she's growing it longer to perm when we go to japan in summer. she had to chop alot of it off due to it being damaged from dying :hsugh:

here's a pretty good site with examples: http://www.beauty-box.jp/style/long/index.html

that's a gallery for long hair, i'm sure you can tell which ones are permed and which are not though

edit: if you click on the pictures, it'll tell you which shape of a face that style will work well with. and at the bottom of the page there's links to the next gallery.

Interesting. The long hair isn't a problem, the damaged hair might be. :o
