I'm a little fuzzy on this whole concept

So I take a handgun class to get a permit which lets me walk around with a holstered firearm, and a concealed carry permit allows me to tuck it under my shirt...

But I don't need a permit to carry a firearm in a bag with ammo seperate from the weapon? And define 'seperate'? Ammo not loaded into a magazine?

In the end, this should all be explained in my safety class next month, but I'm just curious.

    Great site.

Ok, so I can transport the weapon in my vehicle if it's unloaded and the ammunition is seperate from the weapon. So, if I have two full magazines in one side of a duffle bag and the unloaded weapon on the other side of the bag, it's ok?

Or is there a formal definition of 'seperated'?

totally depends on where you live.

Arizona, you can open carry, as long as 2-3 inches of the holster is showing, without any type of permit. You can also get a CCW permit to carry any weapon concealed (including shotguns and rifles).

It takes an 8 hour class and about $70 to get the ccw.

Yeah just as soon as I get back form a week long trip out of state, I'm signing up at the local range and taking the first safty class available so I can get a permit to carry.

Damn it, Wisconsin has to either get a new governor, or I have to move. Either will be a suitable solution these days.
