1998 S10 2wd?
something to give it a bit more umph... exhaust intake etc etc
From what i've heard pretty much all the bolt-ons for a 2.2l are a waste of time and don't really get any more power, i heard there's a place called Al's Headers and Fabrication that made a header for the 96-97 2.2ls that gained like 12hp & 22 lb. ft. or so, but i believe the heads are different than for the 98 (someone else can confirm this) so it won't fit yours. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there just dosn't seem any good 'cheap' way to get more power out of the 2.2l, but here's a couple of other s-series forums you can check out...
thats what i figured... but i really considered doing a v8 swap.... but that will come much later when im able to get money for it. people have told me to look for the 4.3l
but i havent been able to find one thats an ext cab, has the zq8 sups package and is a manual trans. Let alone find one thats an automatice and also around 6 grand
yeah thats going to be a hard combo to find, hell just finding a zq8 4.3l period isn't exactly easy, you could try looking around at the classifieds on the various s-series sites, might get lucky and see somebody selling one on there. What you just named is pretty much what i'd love to have (have a 98 4.3l ext cab auto non-zq8 right now) but i'm not gonna hold my breath on it
If you are looking for a turbo, there are a few companies on www.j-body.org that are producing kits for the 2200 2.2L. And a company is producing a equal length turbo header system in the next few months as well.
