My cousin was considering making a new system with an Athlon 64 (most likely the 3200+), and he was wondering if he would get a significant noticable difference in performance for his music programs.

He just wants to know if he'll be able to notice big changes for Nuendo, Cubase VST, Reason, and Recycle.

Intel excels in what you describe.

Cool. Thanks for the input, guys. I'll be sure to let him know. Right now he's running on a P4 2.4B, so what would be a good processor upgrade that would be around the same price range as an Athlon 64 3200+ (seeing as he won't be going AMD with this new information)?

I'd go with an Intel 520 or 550.
