Alright I took my sisters old Dell Dimension XPS T600. IT is VERY slow and I beleive becasue it is running so many prcesses at once. Here is a screenshot of all the processes. What ones do I not need? What ones can I delete and have the computer still running fine?

It is Windows XP home edition

I've ran Firefox on a K6-2 500 with no issues at all. That's roughly as fast as a P2-450.

However, if you look at the picture, IE is using more than twice the RAM that FF is.

Rob is going to consult other mods, he's looking to put a two week ban on him.

    I contacted Rob directly.

He has provided me with more help than anyone else on this forum and he knows what he's talking about.

Even if he's mean he still answers most questions

With browsers, its all personal choice. Firefox is nice, but you can't say it does everything IE does. Just a fact that the java in it is broken, among other things. Opera isn't perfect either. Not like it matter, IE7 is suposed to be nice, and I hear netscape is making something new and improved also. But thats not the point of this thread. And I guess saying Debian > Windows would be silly also, mostly because if you don't know about computer linux isn't for you. Anywho, everything I have said thus far is pointless... so.

I would start in safe mode, (restart your computer, and push f8 a whole bunch while you wait) and then open programs I use. Only the things listed then are really important, so when your back to normal windows anything extra isn't needed for the most part. I would also go to the run menu, and type msconfig. Go to the startup tab, and uncheck whatever you don't think you need.
