I used to have severe anxiety and depression. I started meditating every day about a year ago. I feel fucking fantastic now. I am so relaxed and happier then ever.

If you have these problems do it naturally, discover the power of silence.

    Thats is all.

I have adhd on top of that so meditation doesn't work well for me as I can't concentrate enough to get it done.

    true story!!

inner conflict is normally solved by inner content ...

  4. That is certainly an excellent suggestion that I recommend people try to learn regardless of whether they have difficulties psychologically, or psychiatrically. Meditation is helpful and may also serve as adjunct therapy with medical or holistic therapies for these specific issues.

Perhaps you should also recommend a place/method for interested people to start.

    prayer is good aswell.

I also want to recommend something on the same level...

for those with anxiety try visual imaging techniques, this is when you visualize somewhere else you'd want to be in your mind. try to make it as vivid as you can.

and tensing\relaxing technique. you tense up all your muscles in your body (gradually!) over a period of 5 full seconds, and then release gradually over 5 seconds. Can really relax you...

Yeah, about this...I heard there are a lot of different relaxation techniques like visualization, breathing, meditation and others. But how do you know which one is the right for you? Even among meditation there are many different types...what do you recommend and how to do it?

    thanks

it's not about being able to concentrate. if you don't have a real interest in meditation, you won't be able to focus. when you develope an interest, it'll come easy to you

  11. Those who have a significant ADHD disorder will unfortunate have a great deal of difficulty, if not be unable entirely to do meditation until they find a method to manage their condition. ADHD does not afford the sufferer a conscious decision to be or not be able to focus [that's why it's a disease].

I am diagnosed with ADHD and anyone with the disorder would be encouraged to see an ADHD specialist, or a Neurology or Neuropsychiatrist who can perform objective Brain Scans, and Neuropsyche evaluations in order to solidify a biological or physical cause for the deficit or disability. It is always easier for the patient to clearly understand the cause or reason for their disability if such can be found with current knowledge and technology.

ADHD can and is caused by a vast broad range of diseases, causes, genetics, and so forth - and knowing exactly how the condition is affecting one is critical if they hope to be able to do meditation exercises. Without an understanding, one may feel dejected and frustrated if they try their best and constantly fail to achieve the results they expect. Understanding your condition can help you arrange appropriate expectations.

I am often unable - because my disease is intrusive and beyond my conscious control. When the Lyme Disease is significantly reduced, so too are the symptoms of ADHD and thus I am able to then do the activity.

I disagree, thinking to much is the cause of anxiety, telling an already anxious person to try and think harder about something not present will make it worse

    This is my routine

    every day,

    - Sit still eyes closed in a compfortable position
    - take a long inhale, pause, take a long exhale, pause, ...repeat
    - the key is not think, I know this sounds hard but you will learn
    - focus on the PRESENT (This is the key)
    - find something around you to focus your total attention to (the sound of running water(Shower) a candle right in front of you, a candy in your mouth

    - (What you are doing is retraining your mind to focus on the present, not about negative thoughts spinning in your mind) This is what being centered means
    - So again, breath, focus on the present and do it regularly. Youd be amazed how your mind re shapes.

    - you cant just do it a few times and expect results. you need to do it consistently for the rest of your life. It took me a good few months to get results, now my life is the best it has been ever.

the reason I replied was becuase someone PM'd me and I can't PM back, just follow what I put in the last thread. The whole goal of meditation is to not think, in a sense putting your mind at ease.
