i do heavy singles all the time
i haven't in awhile
i always lift alone, so I don't have a spot.
I dont think I have done my 1RM ever. Maybe i'll give it a go sometime.
i dont think you do unless your squat rack doesn't have safety pins, but I personally would rather just dump it. maybe its different if you're at huge weight like 700+ or something though
I've maxed out on bench once or twice.

oh, yeah, I've maxed on dl's, but I can't squat much because of the knee.

the squat rack i use (cage) has those safety bars that you can slide in at different heights... when i squat, i put them pretty much all the way at the bottom so they're pretty much completely useless
good thing i don't squat for low reps

i haven't maxed pretty much ever... but i have a day penciled in on my calendar to max this spring

i wanna max out my DL but everytime i think about it, i remember that video that chris posted up of that tall dude trying to pull 700 and ended up with "blood in his spine ____" from what he said..
i know what he was trying to do is a lot heavier than what my max is but, damn that looked painful man. and i couldn't see anything wrong with what he was doing (form, speed, whatever)...
The power rack is my spotter.
I failed on a box squat without a spotter a long time ago. That was interesting... I just kinda sat there for a minute try to figure out what I was going to do and eventually dumped the 275 lbs off my back from a seated position and let it crash on the pins.
never, when im in the gym im looking to gain not impress...
I've never tried my 1rm.

just tried my 1rm on the bench yesterday. other than that i will check my 1rm on bench every one in a while(5 or 6 months) and havent maxed squat or dead.
