There are a lot of these people I run into a few times a week at my job (Staples), but today's customer was pretty bad.

    The conversation goes like this..

Me: Can I help you find anything?
Her: Yes, I have a uh *long pause* canon.. EOS?
Me: Rebel XT, or just a rebel?
    Her: Yes thats it!
Me: .....Okay what can I help you with?
Her: Does this work for my camera? *Holds up 1gb CF card* I already have 3 1 gigs at home, and how much does it cost?
Me: :hsugh: Yes, and it costs $25, so you get double the storage for less money than the 512 (go go gadget selling techniques)
    Her: Whats a 512?

*note* I had pointed at the 512mb CF card before she asked

Me: ..512 megabites.. half a gig

Her: Okay! Now.. can I use this card over and over? My friend said It is good to put the files on a CD but I am afraid I will lose them from the card! Rebel XT Kit, and trying to buy a 4th 1gb compact flash, and she already had 2 Sandisk Ultra II 1gig CFs... Too much money to blow?

$800 + $70 + $70 + $60 + $25 (after rebate) = ~$1025 spent on camera equipment, and she still thinks you'll lose your pictures if you take them off your card... DOH! :eek4:

Anyone else run into people like this? :hsugh:

    :rofl::rofl:
Wish I would have thought about that at the time.. even though I'm not sure if we have them for cards... hmm I'll have to look into it

The only good part about it is that I did inform her on the difference between the Ultra II and regular cards, and how you can transfer the pictures off the card and reuse it, instead of buying new ones..

...she still bought the 4th card.

You should have sold her the most expensive item in the store, the ignorant bitch.

No one appreciates cameras like the way they should, I don't either, but I do try.

Don't think she was dumb enough to buy a $3,500 printer, with a $350 protection plan :wtc:

I'd be willing to bet that if you had taught her a little about the equipment that she had, like the fact that she didnt need another card, and saved her 25 bucks... she'd be back to buy something another time that would have made you more money.

I couldn't let her leave uninformed.. I told her how she only would need 1 card really, and the only scenarios in which multiple memory cards would come in handy, as well as the difference between the Ultra II CF and the regular CF cards...Apparently she just wanted another card for her vacation. I even told her where to go to get the pictures taken off the card and burned to a CD :hsugh:. She did say " 'Oh, really?' 'No kidding!' 'Thats good to know!' " about.. 5 times when I was talking to her, so she picked up on it heh

I don't let customers leave the store without them learning something they didn't know before they came in, and had questions about.. thats my job really. :bigthumb:

I wonder how many people here would admit to being in that category.
