So i had been working with jpeg for awhile and i figured that lightroom presets would work a lot better with raw images. This true? This may sound dumb but the main reason i was working with jpeg was because with raw i can't preview any images and with all the pictures i take i have to open every single one to see what photo it is. So people that do work with raw images, do you guys just upload All of them into your lightroom library and go from there? I want to shoot strictly raw and i'm thinking this is the easiest way to find out which photo is which. Unless there is a program that lets you preview raw files. Thanks guys :wavey:

Why don't you use Bride to view and sort out your images?

what is bride? or do you mean bridge?

I use lightroom to process RAWs, but I find when I export them to CS3, TIFF files take 4 times as long to work with in CS3

There's no reason to use Bridge and Lightroom together.

I've been using RAW but I have to admit its a bit annoying to wait for photos to import into LR to see them, especially with a full card.

I have bridge, but never use it, Can you go from bridge to ACR in photoshop? or does it convert to tiff first too?

When you go to import RAW files into Lightroom click the "Download Some" button and it shows you a thumbnail of what's on the card. You can then choose select all or pick what you want.

My experience with Bridge + ACR vs Lightroom comes down to pure ease of use and a less memory intensive editing process. Lightroom I'm sure is great but it's confusing as fuck to figure out where everything is going. Just My .02. Plus as time goes by ACR gets more and more features that makes LR less needed.

There's a video podcast I watch called "Lightroom for Digital Photographers" and it's very informative. Each segment isn't normally more than 5-10min and it focuses on getting certain effects and tweaking common problems. One of the first lessons you can download is how to batch rename and importing/tagging for easier organizing.

Very good for free. Although for some reason every podcast I come across is voiced by generic nerdy white guy with nasally voice.

Umm, you do realize that Lightroom's Develop module IS ACR? Even the interface is exactly the same.

Exactly, so why use a more process intensive program? I dunno my process is:
    Card reader to file folder
Bridge to label the keepers and delete unwanted files
    ACR and done
Has worked for years and my system, for me, is quick and easy. :dunno:

My real beef with lightroom is the ridiculous way it handles files, thumbnail previews and XMPs.

I'm still using LR, Br and PS but I'm debating cutting LR out of my workflow. Its kinda unnecessary IMO

What can you do in LR that you can't do in bridge :dunno:

Don't get me wrong, I like LR, but I just am not feeling it lately, it crashes at least once a week also
