needs to be drug out into the street and fucking shot
launched a site for a customer on saturday
get an email today from him complaining shit is fucked up, tables, and rollovers and shit
come to find out he used frontpage to edit shit and frontpage fucked up my code lol
That as well as the type the pirate a copy of Dreamweaver and then think they know everything
My dad in his retirement maintains a few sites for local organizations. He has some guy that wants to edit a page, kept bugging him, so he sent him all the files, told him to edit it, then he'd integrate it. Guy couldn't even figure out how to load an HTML file into Dreamweaver.
I had this happen with one of my clients. He had some dumb bitch that wanted to "keep updating" the site with Dreamweaver.
He wouldn't shut the fuck up about it so I finally just handed over the files to him and took my name off the site. Needless to say, it's all fucked up now.
Frontpage... brings back bad memories. And I think in most cases Dreamweaver is even worse.
Hand code in Notepad++
No nothing can beat the useless amount of extra mark-up that Frontpage put in lol. Net Objects Fusion with it's absolute positioning through nested tables and clear images was fairly bad too. lol
As for Notepad++, I'm just a sucker for Textmate/Coda instead for some reason Too bad I don't have a Mac.
And even though it is unrelated, the same website my dad had to deal with someone wanting to edit the page..... lol they just ordered two 500gb external HDs to back up like 300mb of stuff lol.
Hasn't everybody known this since like 1997?
it gets shit done.
nothing is worst than WORD's html converter.
Minuswale just delete the shit after thats been done to it.
I always use notepad ++, notepad.exe if i am desperate.
I have dreamweaver, aptana, and expressions (eww) and Visual Studio. But over 95% of my time is spent in notepad ++
pepsi is lying.
blinking html links ftw.
I have a feeling some of the CSS3 stuff is going to be the new blink in the next few years.
I hate every WYSIWYG. Even Dreamweaver, despite people arguing for it's codeview, it's still a bulky POS.
I'm a fan of light weight text editors with the basics of syntax highlighting, line number, code completion, file management, etc. My weapons of chose on Windows is UltraEdit32, and TextEdit for OSX.
this is not about WYSIWYG
it is about how front page fucks up tables and hover buttons and other fucking code
There are many reasons why I don't like both Front Page or Dreamweaver. Them being a WYSIWYG is among one of the main reasons.
and create i hate a wysiwyg thread, this is one specific to frontpage and the code it fucks up
dont be a hater.
he was just sayin
anyway, we may hate wysiwyg applications all the time, but, we cannot discount their ability to teach newcomers simple code.
Split viewing code is one of the easiest ways to learn, but, also has its disadvantages since frontpage/dreamweaver can bloat them up too.
Judging by the first post, it sounds like it was a Front Page hate thread in general. Front Page is garbage, for many reasons, including it's WYSIWG capabilities. Just like Dreamweaver. Just not as bad.
get your ass on aim, and i will give you some haterade
typically oter not reading further
It's of relative interest. I've seen Dreamweaver do similar things to people who rely on the WYSIWG editor. I guess the point I'm making is that it seems all bulky WYSIWYG app have similar problems. Some applications are just better at it.
i coded this site in notepad, first time i did my code in there, so i am a little upset he fucked it up in frontpage
