LGBT People that hate on/scared of idea of Homo's...

Discussion in 'Lifestyle' started by Pen Is Mightier, Oct 13, 2008.

  1. I always thought people were more open than they really are. I guess I was just living in my SF Bay Area bubble of young adults. Doesn't get much more accepting than that, right?

Why do you guys/gals think people hate so much? Scared of the idea? Think it is not natural?

Just wondering what you guys think so I can get some perspective. In general, I think my "coming out" went pretty well. All of my friends were fine with it except one was a little scared at first, but he's cool now. Then one other person, not really a friend, doesn't like me anymore but I think that's because his GF likes me more than him. :mamoru: That and my parents dont like me anymore but that's not a big deal to me anymore. It seems like I picked a good generation/age/area to come out.

But then recently I've run into some people (online or real life) that seem to HATE the idea whether they know I'm gay or not, they seem to make a lot of gay jokes or whatever. One case in point is Fitness&Nutrition here on OT...they make gay jokes in every one of my threads to the point where I'm just not going to post there anymore. Then sometimes at parties I'll hear people all gang up and start bashing on gay people or gay friends of theres. :ugh: I guess I'm just realizing people are not as gay-friendly as I thought they were.

My mother's side of the family is country born and raised and super churchy and they are taught to believe that it's wrong and all that jazz so therefore they will always have that mindset that they are what is natural and right and we are wrong and going to hell! Sad is what it is...

If only they knew I guess. It is impossible to explain it though. I think there are just too many stereotypes of gay people being some kind of :greddy: person that just has tons of promiscuous, dirty, sex with guys and hit on straight guys and talk with a lisp and all kinds of stupid shit. So then if anyone ever comes out, they are assumed to be like that.

Bible thumpers have no chance of ever seeing the real world, hah, don't even want to go there.

I also laugh at the fact that guys LOVE lesbians making out, but when they hear about a gay guy they want to kill them. I can't wait until I'm huge so I can kick some punk asses if they ever talk shit. :mamoru:

It's just ignorance, I feel bad for them. I don't hate them back though.

Straight guys only like it because they think they'll have a chance to fulfill a threesome fantasy. When they realize that the women are totally gay and into each other it can piss off some of the more neanderthallic of them. Also straight guys only like to watch hot girls make out, they wouldn't last long around most lesbians. :mamoru:

  6. Lol pretty much. Plus some think it is like crazy to watch and are therefore entertained because it is "different". I've kissed my boyfriend in front of a bunch of girls before and they all seemed to like it. :mamoru: I wonder if they want a threesome! LOL. I could contemplate doing that just to say I did.

Yeah, what Kat said - straight guys love "lesbians" making out. Their hatred of real lesbians can be even more vehement than their hatred towards gay guys.

  8. Yeah I'm sure if two less than gorgeous ladies were making out at their party they wouldn't like it so much. I can't even begin to think what would happen if they saw two guys kissing though. :hs: Probably a whole lot of anger or at least a lot of awkwardness.

That would be interesting at the very least and could be kind of fun.

I'll leave the visual to you but I'm thinking like...a train, perhaps? Interconnected train cars with rods?

  12. LOL, novo. Pretty much probably. Pretty much every one of my friends has gone :eek3: when they meet my BF and I slyly say he's my BF...they are all cool with it but the first time a little shocked face is always there. Deep down they want to try kissing a guy probably. :mamoru:

I personally dont care, im straight, but have gay friends.

nothing wrong with it, i look at like this, your a person, we are each unique and like different things, where its guys or girls who gives a fuck, id rather concentrate on me rather than you fucking someone of the same sex.

granted i see those flaming gays, and i cant help but laugh, but other than that its no big deal to me.

i really dont know wtf is up with people really hating gays. i had a heated argument with my gf sisters bf about gay ppl. he lives in ny near the village (gay area) he was going apeshit over how he saw some dude in assless chaps. and how its wrong etc. etc. / long story short nothing was resolved I just dont understand why haters care so much about what the other person is doing rather than whats going on with them.

  14. I think being super gay (assless chaps/stereotypical flamer) is overdoing it too and that's coming from a gay guy. :dunno: But yeah...I do agree with your statement of:
"I just dont understand why haters care so much about what the other person is doing rather than whats going on with them."
Not sure why some people get so worked up over things that don't effect THEIR life AT ALL.

You have to remember, my ex wife was very much bi, and I never explored my bi side until after our divorce...only once during our marriage did we ever play around w/another couple that BOTH were bi as well and at that time I hadn't let myself accept that I was yet.

Honsetly I think for some people on OT, its because your nothing but gay. Just about every thread you make, or reply in mentions your BF, or being gay.

    Ok, we get it.

Your gay, and you have a BF.

Its one thing to be proud of what you are, or what you like, but it gets old being beaten over the head with a stick about it.

Why cant it be "Hi I'm PEN and I'm here to contribute to this discussion", instead of "Hi I'm gay, I have a BF in case you didnt know".

Actually I always have to remember if your a guy or a girl when you post! That would tell me your more about contributing to the discussion then about self promotion.

  20. When I first came out, I did say I was gay too often, when it was not appropriate, that was stupid. However, now I never do. It is kind of a publicly known thing though now, sadly.

Maybe you think that because you read my posts in THE CLOSET? And the first reason I signed up on OT was for The Closet actually because I finally realized I was gay. :dunno:

    I completely agree.

A straight friend of mine who is very very gay friendly and frequents gay clubs was pretty much attacked by a bunch of gay guys in a gay club for kissing his girlfriend. How on earth can we expect equality when people behave like that.

Lol, that is so stupid. Did they say 'don't flaunting your lifestyle?', heh. Reminds me of Jack from W&G. Were they thinking he was trying to put them down or something? Like making a political statement? I dunno.

I think the reasoning was that these guys feel that they can't kiss in straight clubs, so he wasn't allowed to kiss in their club. My girlfriend and I try and tone it down when we are in a straighty environment BUT it's so hard when we love each other so much. It's shame some people can't just see the love and all they think is either freak show or porn stars.

I say we should act like straight people and just make everybody else get fucking used to it.
