I always thought people were more open than they really are. I guess I was just living in my SF Bay Area bubble of young adults. Doesn't get much more accepting than that, right? Why do you guys/gals think people hate so much? Scared of the idea? Think it is not natural? Just wondering what you guys think so I can get some perspective. In general, I think my "coming out" went pretty well. All of my friends were fine with it except one was a little scared at first, but he's cool now. Then one other person, not really a friend, doesn't like me anymore but I think that's because his GF likes me more than him. That and my parents dont like me anymore but that's not a big deal to me anymore. It seems like I picked a good generation/age/area to come out. But then recently I've run into some people (online or real life) that seem to HATE the idea whether they know I'm gay or not, they seem to make a lot of gay jokes or whatever. One case in point is Fitness&Nutrition here on OT...they make gay jokes in every one of my threads to the point where I'm just not going to post there anymore. Then sometimes at parties I'll hear people all gang up and start bashing on gay people or gay friends of theres. I guess I'm just realizing people are not as gay-friendly as I thought they were.
