First off I dont really have to carry a gun daily..... but since Im getting my CCW I figure why not from time to time carry one or keep it in the car with me.

My question is what should I get for a daily carry gun? Glock? Springfield XD? Kimber CDP Ultra II? Other? I know Glocks are great until they KB, XD is great as long as im not near moisture, and Kimber are perfect, well my TLE RL is. I like my glock 23, and Im hoping to get a XD45acp soon after I get a daily carry gun, but I never shot an XD. Im leaning towards the Kimber cuz I like the slimmer girth and external safety, but Im not sure if I wanna drop 900 plus on a gun right now with a new car and bike loomin in the horizon.

I wanna hear some of OTWMD's opinions too.

Try going to your local gunrange and renting some of these guns.

I have a kimber (fullsize) and a glock 23 but im looking for a carry model this time. and my range doesn't have rentals.... its ND for christ sakes LOL. And the ranges in Vancouver are useless cuz they cant have any compacts/subcompacts only fullsize guns.

I have a Glock 26 and think it's pretty easy to carry.

I like it because it's nice and compact, not too heavy, and I don't have to worry about it too much. Gets wet from sweating or rain? not a problem. Plus getting wear and tear on an expensive, compact 1911 would probably upset me because they're so expensive :o

You can get an Ultralight Taurus .357 snubby for around $250 (although they aren't that light). The scandium S&Ws are super lightweight but they're expensive. You won't even know that you've got it in your pocket. Kel-Tec makes some small autos. If they ever release the PF-9 I'll be buying one. Kahr also makes a tiny 9mm but it's more than double the price of the Kel-tec and it's slightly bigger. Those are just some of the smallest options out there right now.

I wouldn't mind picking up one of those, perfect size for carry.

Go with the Kimber. I've been without my UCII for a week (getting some work done) so I've been carrying my S&W 908 in the meantime. I'm painfully realizing how confortable the the slimness of a 1911 is.

A Sig 229 would be good. Or as mentioned a 232. I even know people (granted they are both over 6'2") who carry 226s regularly.

I wanted to get the ultra raptor but I was advised not to get it because 1 its really sexy and 2 the finish doesn't hold up well against holster wear. I was told to get the CDP because it has the bevel treatment, so there are not sharp edges and its stainless and the stainless hides against wear better. I do notice that after many weekends at the range my stainless kimber hides holster wear better than a black (blued) pistol.

I'll probably buy a pro carry raptor for sex factor alone.

I could carry my G23 daily but this is just and excuse to buy a sub compact gun :big grin:

I carry my P226 in the winter sometimes, not a big deal as long as I have a coat on.

I wouldn't consider a Sig 232. A .380? Are you serious? I am less than 6' and carry a Para Ord P14-45 with a +1 extension. With one in the pipe, I have 15 rounds of .45 onboard. I laugh when I see cops with a .38/357 with two speed loaders. They have to reload twice to have what I have in the gun. And someone said a snubby .357? You ever shoot one of those indoors? You wouldn't do it a second time.
